arindam

what do you see here in this photograph ???...i can see a photographer looking at his LCD on a very busy road... he is just like that ... when he is in the field, he will be so much engaged in his work that you can see his concentration like that ... i have the opportunity to see him closely... started photography lately and growing up like anything.. new concept of art, photography and thinking .. all are blended into a single frame.. and thats how he captures the moment... i enjoy discussing about photography with him any moment and any day ... he is so talented and yet reserved...
... ok , 'nuf said...he is arindam, arindam thokder... now do a google on him...

coffee house

coffee house is one of my favorite place ... when i was in kolkata i went to 'indian coffee house' at college street for several times... not on a daily basis but i would prefer to sit there for sometime while roaming around those book stores... fusion coffee is something special at 'indian coffee house' at college street... different kind of coffee with no sugar no milk added... indian coffee house is an integral part of bengal intellectuality...
... but here i am at bangalore coffee house on m g road... i must say though i won't get the feel of kolkata coffee house here , but at least some kind of similarity... with the increasing rate of growing 'barista' and 'cafe coffee day' in the city , coffee house tends to loose the game ... but for me i still would love the atmosphere in coffee house ... no matter what modern amenities 'barista' or 'cafe coffee day' gives me...

claude

it was just like another winter afternoon ... no work at office... casually i was browsing through a photography site called pbase, and suddenly i got stuck infront a photograph... i was moved by the composition of that photograph... nothing complicated, but simple... one lady in pink saree was stepping down from konark temple... i wrote a comment on that photograph... and guess what, i got a reply from the photographer... his name is Claude Renault...a middle-aged french photographer in love with India...

... it was a story 2.5 years back ... i am lucky to be close with him... i learned a lot from him about photography...tips and techniques... and everything... my photographic journey started by his inspiration... i have seen him closely... i have seen his passion for India, his love for the people of India...

besides a great photographer, he is a great human being too...it is nice to have him within us...

intense

this is what i would like call as 'intense look'...
... nandi hills is famous for a typical day out amongst bangaloreans... just 50km off the road... bhogi nandiswara temple is one of the stop on the way to nandi hills...
one certain morning while roaming inside temple i found this man... he was so kind to me and did not mind to be photographed... i always like to find such gems in my memoirs...

aditya

aditya came to office at 5:55 AM in the morning yesterday ...as soon as he came, he started insisting me to go out for a shoot ! ... so early in the morning !! and going out from the office !!!... i was little confused... he told me , there was a solar eclipse early in the morning... he quickly browsed through internet, found the time of the sunrise ( he is a internet geek too !)and took his helmet to go out immediately... i was a silent follower...

i don't carry my camera always...but i had my compact camera with me that time... we headed towards an unfinished building to see the sunrise... it was a very different sight to be seen with the slice of sun rising... he got some good photographs... he was happy ... i felt good...

insomnia

i will have some guests next week in my home... they are all coming from my home town... a place 2500 km far away from bangalore...a long long journey for 48 hours by train... bangalore- guawahati express...this train runs through westbengal from assam and then takes the east coastal road through out orissa, andrapradesh, tamilnadu and finally reaches Bangalore...last december i went home and traveled by train...while traveling by train i always prefer to travel by sleeper class...but when you go for such a long journey and need to stay for 48 hours in the compartment,a/c compartment will give you a little comfort for your journey... but there is always a disappointment...in this a/c compartment, you can't see much of outside landscapes but the faces of your other co-passengers...

... i remember, it was a truly boring journey for me, last time i traveled... i took some photographs that time... the one i uploaded here is from that journey...the person in the foreground had not slept previous night...he was traveling to assam... he learned that there were some kind of riots in assam by ULFA... some of the bihari people were already evacuated from the land of assam... he was quite worried about it...i saw him talking over his mobile phone every hour...

...on the other hand this little boy was so spontaneous, always doing something very important !!! his mother was tired atlast...

those were the 40 hours of my insomnia...

dream

ok, how big do you dream !!! i read somewhere in the internet world, that somebody suggested - "dream in color and then you can convert into black and white"... how funny ... somebody asks which color do u dream... does it really matter which color one dreams in...? it does not matter for me... for me the content is the most important... i don't mind whether it is in color or in grey scale... my interest is on the dimension of my dream...or rather how big could i dream... unless i dream big , i can't think big, i can't wish big... can i ???

bazaar

who will allow me to sit in home all the day... all my personal works will be held up otherwise... i am thinking i should go to commercial street for some shopping ... i planned last week but due to some unavoidable situation i could not go there... i have to keep sometime for that today... i may carry my compact camera with me... who know if there is an opportunity...
